Greek –Yogurt southwestern- dip
1c. of whole milk yogurt or you may use reduced calorie
1 tsp. chili-lime spice
1/4 tsp. salt
2 turns of cracked pepper
1 small grated garlic clove
1 tsp. lime zest
1 squeeze of fresh lime
1 tsp. ground cumin
1 tbsp. honey
1 tbsp. chopped cilantro
Sprinkle of paprika
Stir and allow it to sit in the fridge before you serve it. So the flavors can sit and mix.
Pita Bread Triangles
1 package of pita bread
olive oil for brushing
Simply just this; Pita bread cut into triangles and fried in veggie oil just until they are browed and crispy on each side.
But you can brush the pita pieces in veggie or olive oil and bake them in the oven. until toasted 10 min.
I found this to be nicer healthier version to bring to a party rather than a dessert. You could exchange the cilantro for basil or mint to and change up the dip the more citrus dip with honey and the herbs of your choice.
Prep time: 20 min.
Ingredients:
Fruit salsa
1 pineapple
1/2c. chopped pineapple
1/2c. chopped papaya
1 chopped green pepper
1 chopped red pepper
1/4c chopped cilantro
1 jalapeno cleaned and diced
6 strawberries cleaned and chopped
1/2tsp. ground cumin
1/2tsp. chili powder
Pinch of salt
Drizzle of honey
Directions:
Cut the pineapple in half lengthways so you have half the stem with the pineapple.
Hollow it out, take out the core, then chop the remainder of the fresh pineapple and set aside.
Clean and chop papaya into small pieces then set aside.
These measurements of fruit are approximate. (give or take with the measurements)
Dice the peppers and chop the strawberries into small pieces.
Add the chopped fruit and veg to a mixing bowl, then add the spices. With a drizzle or two of honey and gently stir the ingredients together so not to break up the fruit.
Incorporate the chopped cilantro in at the end then pour into the pineapple. It makes a really nice presentation for your guests.
